Like a Sunflower Following the Sun

Don't give up until the day is done. The sunflower is like a woman, the last phase is the most beautiful. It is called a sunflower not because it looks like the sun, but because it follows the sun.

Jill Kaddie and I are playing Miss Wilsons in the Musical Calendar Girls produced by The Llangollen Operatic Society from 31 August - 3 September in the Llangollen Town Hall.

We are the two sisters, Miss Wilsons, who usually "shower with their clothes on". Who knows what lies underneath us, and our 6 other friends at the Women Institute?

The production of the Calendar Girls is about 8 women at the Women’s institute who defied conventional approval to produce an “alternative calendar” to raise money for a hospital so they can look after cancer patients and their relatives better.

Can you imagine the kind of struggles we had to go through putting our nude calendars together? Fortunately, we realized that our personal struggles are much smaller than the struggles of those who suffer from cancer.

We learned that a naked older woman can look artistic not because of the beauty of her body but the beauty of her heart.

Reflection: What makes you struggle? What is the cost of your struggle? What is the blessing when you overcome the struggle? Is it worth it?
