Selana and her husband, Bill, shared about the importance of harmony to an international audience during the International Musical Eisteddfod in 2019.

What can you do?

If you have experienced conflicts in workplaces with difficult bosses, co-workers, clients or stakeholders with unethical practices, unrealistic expectations, and violent communication styles, you know how conflict increases stress and reduces productivity.

Are you uncertain about how to manage your own contracts, negotiate on your own behalf and guard against people who take advantage of you, violate your rights and organizations who don’t understand your needs?

Pivot to people

Awareness of the importance of relationships, collaborations and partnerships has been rising in the cultural sector post-Covid. With skillsets in leadership, negotiation, conflict management and mediation, I can help you make the most out of your diverse talents by maintaining long term relationships with your collaborators and key stakeholders to ensure your business continuity and good reputation. I can help you set realistic expectations, prioritize issues, set boundaries, stand firm to difficult people, handle tricky conversations so you can create the condition for inspiring more people, building a bigger network and having more effectiveness from your work.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Remember why you wanted to collaborate with each other in the first place. This will help you find a common ground or and look beyong the current conflicts and focus on long term success.

  2. Analyse the impact of the conflict your career, the faster you can resolve the conflict, the faster you will be able to recover from loss.

  3. Know your no deal option. Think about what you will do if you can not reach an agreement ahead of time. This will make you more rational and less likely to accept deals that are not beneficial.

  4. Accept that sometimes a conflict is just too difficult to be resoved no matter how hard you try. Why fight a battle when you can actually escape? Have an exit plan can save you from fighting an useless battle.
