Be Comfortable in My Own Skin

On my artist's date - I do it all alone. I am the only one that is stopping me.

The Llangollen Canal is one of the most popular in Britain and arguably the most beautiful.

On your artist date, if anything is possible, how would you like it to be?

I realized that I have hardly had an artist's date with myself in the first 6 months since I relocated to the UK a year ago. I gave myself constant pressure to build my own business, sometimes the working hours roll into the evenings and even weekends. This was drying up my creativity and I risked burnt out.

About 5 months ago, I wanted to join a choir but I had trouble deciding which one to go to. I took this indecision to a coaching session and my fellow coach helped me become aware that the indecision was an excuse to stop myself from going.

" Are you really so busy that there isn't 1 hour during the whole week that you can't go?" My fellow coach asked.

"I can go every single night if I want to because I'm free in all the evenings." It only took me a split second to answer his question.

At the end of that coaching session, I decided to start going to a choir on the following Monday. Since then, I have become a member of the Melodic Mondays, Operatic Tuesdays, Choral Variations Wednesdays & St. Collen Fridays. I have also been invited to sing with the North Wales Opera Company and perform in the Madame Butterfly in September. I have also been given the honor to be the guest conductor of the Glyn Ceiriog Male Voice Choir.

This all happened because the artist inside me was awakened and one artist's date rolls into another like a flower opening to the sun.

Moreover, I also developed a habit of jogging by myself every day in the morning when the weather permits. Some of the photos I have taken along the valleys in Llangollen are breathtaking.

Llangollen is in an outstanding area of natural beauty. It nurtures a lot of artists, musicians, and poets. I certainly don't have to go very far to have an artist date anymore. All of this natural beauty is right outside my doorstep, all I need to do is to put one foot in front of another.
